Our Story
Nineteen years ago, a young, passionate, and driven CPA saw a need in his community for a tax & financial company that did more than provide tax help. The people around him needed someone to have their backs when it came to their small businesses, someone to call when the IRS knocked at their doors, somewhere to go that was honest- they needed a company with integrity. Fortunately for the community, there were people already in the process of making that happen. In 2000, Brian Roark, that eager and driven CPA, purchased an existing tax firm on Chicago Drive in Jenison, MI and began to build his business. Since its birth, many more tax and small business rock stars have joined the team and grew it into what we now know as Integrity Tax Group.
In 2010, Integrity Tax Group of Grand Haven was established with the acquisition of Taylor & Associates. In 2011, Balanced Tax & Financial in Jenison was purchased by the group and after merging with another CPA, Jerry Dykema, Integrity Tax Group of Jenison North was formed. Following those two large growth spurts, we were at it again, and this time, choose to grow into the Kentwood area with the purchase of Mossel’s Bookkeeping & Accounting. More recently, in 2016, Integrity acquired Nerli & Associates and was able to open a new location in NE Grand Rapids. Also in 2016, the old Chicago Drive office moved into a beautiful office building on Cottonwood Drive in Jenison. In 2019, we expanded north to Rockford with the merger of Action Tax Service into our practice.
In 2015, the largest acquisition opportunity to date happened with the purchase of Stadler & Company, a group of five tax offices in southern Indiana. Continuing to operate as Stadler & Company, these offices make up the newly formed Indiana region of Integrity Tax Group.
Integrity Tax Group has grown into being a one-stop shop for tax and small business needs. Integrity offers full and partial service payroll, bookkeeping, small business assistance (i.e. setup and planning) and tax services for personal and business returns of all types. Currently, the company's Michigan locations include Jenison, Grand Haven, Kentwood, NE Grand Rapids, Holland, Benton Harbor, and Rockford with more to come in the future!
Our Contributing Practitioners: The original Integrity Tax & Financial location owners - Leonard Kurtz, Ron Helder, Joe Borowicz. Also Bill & Judy Fredricks, Joanne Hoonhorst, Cindy Carmody, Dan Jensema, Richard Meads, Jim Zaremba, Rod VanDyk, Mike Cunningham, Marten Vegter, Lynn Walters, Dorothy Darling, and Jerry Coon who have all merged their practices or portions into our group.
